Pollock’s Toy Museum is a small museum housed in a couple of adjoining townhouses with exhibits of vintage toys with an emphasis on toy theatres.
What to see at Pollock’s Toy Museum
Pollock’s Toy Museum is cluttered with a lot of exhibits crammed in a disorganised space with inadequate labelling. Some people find the cluttered space charming and authentic, but others find the poorly organised exhibits difficult to follow.
Most of the exhibits are of vintage toys and there is an emphasis on creepy-looking dolls and Pollock’s Toy Theatres that were popular in the 1800s.
Visiting Pollock’s Toy Museum
The museum is on Scala Street in Fitzrovia just a two-minute walk from Goodge Street tube station and a short walk to Oxford Street.
It is a small museum and many people say that it isn’t worth the admission price, although entry is free for visitors with a valid London Pass.
I would probably advise giving the museum a miss if you don’t have a passion for vintage toys (and a London Pass), although the shop on the ground floor is interesting and worth a quick look.
