Most of Derbyshire is taken up by the Peak District National Park, a region of pleasant rolling hills, stone fences and picturesque towns and villages.
The Peak District is Britain’s first and the world’s second-most-visited national park and it lies within easy access of many of England’s biggest cities and is popular on weekends and school holidays. It is an area of rolling countryside crisscrossed with hiking trails and ubiquitous stone fences. Although a pleasant area, there is nothing spectacular about the park and most travellers see it as simply a place to pass through.
