The Abbey Hotel Bath is an upmarket hotel in a grand Georgian building in the centre of Bath.
It is comprised of a row of three Georgian townhouses dating from 1739. The hotel is part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio; however, the branding is subtle and it has the feel of an upscale independent hotel.
There are 62 air-conditioned guest rooms, which all have comfortable Hypnos beds, a work desk, a large flatscreen TV (some rooms have two tellies), ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. One of the rooms is wheelchair accessible.
The cosy 13m² (140 sq ft) rooms are the hotel’s smallest, although most guest rooms are between 18m² (194 sq ft) and 34m² (366 sq ft). Rooms are divided into Cinematography, Gallery and Print rooms, which indicate the design aesthetic of each room.
The Abbey Hotel Kitchen restaurant is quite spacious for a relatively small hotel and has a casual dining menu with English pub classics such as fish and chips and burgers.
There is also a nice bar, the ArtBar, which is a nice environment for a drink and a light meal.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is located right in the heart of the city centre with loads of places to eat, drink and shop right on your doorstep. However, it is a busy spot and the coaches dropping off tour groups outside the front of the hotel detracts from the otherwise perfect location.
It is well situated for sightseeing with Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths and Sally Lunn’s all within a two-minute walk from the hotel and most other points of interest are no more than a 5–10-minute walk away.
