The Bath Distillery is the first distillery to operate in Bath for over 250 years. It is a niche operation producing small batches of premium hand-crafted spirits and it operates a tasting and distillery tour experience on Saturdays.
The distillery started out as a fairly small operation in the basement of the Canary Gin Bar on Queen Street; however, it has since opened a dedicated distillery in separate premises a short distance to the west of the city centre.
What to see at the Bath Distillery
The distillery tour experience begins at the Canary Gin Bar where you will be greeted with a Bath Gin and tonic while you learn about the history of gin including the story behind the Bath Distillery.
You then make your way to the distillery (a five-minute walk from the Canary Gin Bar) where you get to see Jane, the distillery’s copper pot still, and learn about the distillation and bottling process.
Afterwards, you return to the bar to sample a selection of the distillery’s gins and you leave with a miniature bottle as a souvenir.
Visiting the Bath Distillery
Although the Bath Distillery is actually located west of the city centre near the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, your tour begins at the Canary Gin Bar on Queen Street in the city centre.
Tours only operate on Saturdays. The experience costs £35, which is relatively pricey although it does include tastings and a souvenir miniature bottle to take home with you.
The Bath Distillery also operates a gin cocktail masterclass on Saturdays.
The experience takes around an hour.
