The Burnside Hotel is an upscale boutique hotel in Shottery, which is close to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage but around a half-hour walk to the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon.
It is a small hotel with only 21 guest rooms. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, a work desk, a sitting area, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms with L’Occitane toiletries.
The hotel also features the self-contained Grade II-listed Brookside Cottage, which is built in the traditional Tudor style with an exposed timber frame and thatched roof and the cottage has its own lounge, kitchen and dining room plus three double bedrooms.
The hotel’s Burnside Restaurant prepares traditional meals with locally sourced seasonal ingredients, except on Thursday nights (which is Tandoori night). The restaurant is also a popular spot for afternoon tea.
Saddles Bar is the small hotel bar (with saddles mounted on the barstools), which has a range of beer on tap.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is in a leafy village-like setting in Shottery, which is around a half-hour walk into Stratford-upon-Avon’s town centre. There is a lovely local pub, The Bell, nearby and it is the closest hotel to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, which is only a five-minute walk from here.
The hotel has free car parking, which makes it an ideal place to stay if you’re travelling by car.
