Campanile Swindon

This hotel, which was previously an ibis, is a step above other UK Campanile hotels and guest reviews regularly praise the staff who work here.

The 120 hotel rooms have a fairly basic decor but they include everything that you need including comfortable Hypnos beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television and tea and coffee making facilities plus en-suite bathrooms.

Like other Campanile hotels, meals at the on-site restaurant are much better than you would expect. It serves breakfast throughout most of the morning, however, dinner service ends at 9.45pm, which is a little too early in my opinion.

Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available but it costs £8 for 24 hours.

The hotel is located in the Delta Office Park just off the northwest corner of the Mannington Roundabout and there is a large retail park across the road. Although the hotel is surrounded by greenery, it is not a particularly vibrant neighbourhood as it is set amongst a bland office park and it’s surrounded by car dealerships and ‘big box’ stores selling things like carpet, mattresses and sofas.

Although the location is best suited if you’re driving, it is not too far from the town centre and you can stay here if you’re relying on public transport. There is a bus stop just a two-minute walk away with buses running into the town centre every 10 minutes or so. From the hotel, you can also walk into the town centre in around half an hour and the railway station is a 35-minute walk away.
