The River Calder and the Rochdale Canal run through Hebden Bridge and river and canal cruises are a popular activity for many visitors to the town.
Hebden Bridge Cruises operate several themed cruises on a traditional narrowboat. These include Sunday lunch cruises, afternoon tea cruises and fish and chip cruises. These cruises are a relaxing way to explore the Rochdale Canal and the Calder Valley.
Tea cruise
Tea cruises run every day and include a scenic 50-minute cruise along the Rochdale Canal and you have the option of enjoying either a cream tea or a full afternoon tea on board. Cream tea £18, afternoon tea £28.
Early Bird Cruise
The Early Bird Cruise operates a one-hour cruise including a meal prepared by the Stubbing Wharf pub. It runs Wednesday to Saturdays at 5pm, which is a tad early for dinner but it wouldn’t be called an Early Bird Cruise if it ran any later. £23.
Fish and Chip Cruise
The Fish and Chip Cruise runs at 6pm on Fridays. It features a meal of fish and chips from the Stubbing Wharf pub and a 50-minute cruise along the Rochdale Canal. £23.
Sunday Lunch Cruise
The Sunday Lunch Cruise is a 90-minute cruise that includes a two-course roast lunch from the Stubbing Wharf pub. These cruises operate at 12.30pm and 3pm, although the 3pm cruise only operates if the 12.30pm cruise is fully booked. £33.
Coronavirus-related restrictions mean that there is currently a maximum of six people per cruise; however, cruises don’t run if fewer than four people are booked on a specific cruise.
Cruises depart from the Stubbing Wharf pub, which is a tranquil setting around a 10–15-minute walk west of the town centre. The pub is a lovely spot for a meal and a drink or two after your cruise.
