The 13th-century Castle Inn is a charming small hotel and pub in the centre of Castle Combe. It is a delightful place to stay that is ideal for anyone who loves staying in small independently operated hotels.
It is a small hotel with 12 guest rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk (except in the single room), a flat-screen television and an en suite bathroom. Single, twin and double rooms are available. A couple of the double rooms feature four-poster beds.
Rooms are decorated in a traditional style that emphasises the historic nature of the 13th-century building and many of them have exposed oak beams.
The Castle Inn has the better food of the two pubs in the pretty part of Castle Combe. The menu consists of gastropub-style fare that gets excellent reviews as well as a traditional Sunday roast. Cream tea is served every afternoon.
The pub has a great atmosphere and during winter there is a roaring log fire to keep you warm.
Most room rates include breakfast and free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the property.
Although it can be a tad pricey, the single room is a good value option for single travellers and even the more expensive rooms are a cheaper option than staying at the nearby Manor House Hotel.
The Castle Inn is right next to the Market Cross in the heart of the prettiest part of Castle Combe, which regularly tops lists of England’s prettiest villages. Virtually everything of interest in the village is within a two- to three-minute walk from the hotel and Bath is around a 25-minute drive away.
