The small Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes in Wensleydale has excellent exhibits on life in the Yorkshire Dales. It is next to the disused Hawes railway station and the museum’s outdoor exhibits include an old steam train that used to run on the former Wensleydale Railway. Inside the museum, exhibits include a Time Tunnel depicting 10,000 years of history, a recreation of an old kitchen and doctor’s surgery and a programme of changing exhibitions.
