The DoubleTree by Hilton London Greenwich is a high-end hotel at the Deptford end of Greenwich. It offers a very high standard of accommodation but there are better-located hotels elsewhere in Greenwich.
This hotel, which was formerly the Mercure Greenwich Hotel, was reopened as a DoubleTree by Hilton in February 2017. It is housed inside a 1940s-era building that was formerly a police headquarters.
The 145 hotel rooms are air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a small desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Deluxe rooms also include an espresso machine and a minibar with complimentary soft drinks.
Unlike most other high-end hotels, this hotel offers the option of accommodation in single guest rooms, which is a more affordable option for people travelling on their own. Of course, most of the rooms are double and twin rooms and there are also several suites. Some of the hotel’s twin rooms are wheelchair accessible.
The hotel’s suites are much larger with more opulent furnishings and some of them have a free-standing bath in your room.
There is a bar and restaurant inside the hotel (the O1 Bar and the O1 Restaurant), which both feel very plush. Afternoon tea is served here every afternoon between noon and 4.30pm and room service is available 24 hours a day.
All guests have free access to the hotel’s in-house gym.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in the hotel lobby and in all the guest rooms.
This hotel is southwest of the centre of Greenwich so there is not quite as much on your doorstep compared with other Greenwich hotels. The centre of Greenwich and most of the Greenwich tourist attractions are a good 15 to 20-minute walk from the hotel but there are shops and places to eat in the immediate vicinity and there are good transport connections into the centre of London (but it is not as good as more centrally-located Greenwich hotels like the ibis London Greenwich and the De Vere Devonport House).
This hotel is just a four-minute walk from Deptford Bridge DLR station, which has trains every five minutes to Bank. The journey time from here into The City is 24 minutes. The hotel is also less than a 10-minute walk to Greenwich railway station, which has faster (but less frequent) services into central London.
On-site parking is available at the hotel but it costs £20 per night.
