The EDF Hinkley Point Visitor Centre has displays and information about the nearby Hinkley Point nuclear power plant.
What to see at the EDF Hinkley Point Visitor Centre
The EDF Hinkley Point Visitor Centre features a number of displays that show how nuclear energy is produced. It also includes exhibits about the Hinkley Point B power station, which has been operating since 1975 and the new Hinkley Point C power station, which is currently under construction.
The visitor centre is the departure point for tours of the power plant; however, these tours are currently suspended.
Visiting the EDF Hinkley Point Visitor Centre
The visitor centre is in Cannington, around 5.5km (3½ miles) northwest of Bridgwater, although there previously was a much more centrally-located visitor centre in Angel Place in Bridgwater’s town centre. Entry to the visitor centre is through the Porter’s Lodge at Cannington Court.
Bus route 14 runs regularly between Cannington and central Bridgwater. It’s also possible to drive, although the visitor centre only has five car parking spaces.
Admission to the visitor centre is free of charge and it is open Monday to Friday.
