Eureka! Science + Discovery in Wallasey, across the River Mersey from Liverpool, is an interactive science and technology centre aimed primarily at children. The attraction combines hands-on exhibits with educational displays exploring the connections between science, nature and everyday life.
Eureka! Science + Discovery occupies a redeveloped section of the former Spaceport building at Seacombe Ferry Terminal. The site overlooks the Mersey waterfront, an area that has long reflected Liverpool’s maritime and industrial heritage. Its transformation into an educational centre forms part of a wider effort to regenerate the Wirral waterfront, introducing cultural and family-focused attractions alongside traditional ferry services and public art spaces.

What to see at Eureka! Science + Discovery
Eureka! Science + Discovery is divided into six main zones, each exploring a different aspect of science, technology and everyday life. The centre is designed primarily for children aged 7–14, with one dedicated area for younger visitors.
The Explore zone focuses on the science behind movement, energy and forces. Hands-on exhibits encourage visitors to experiment with balance, momentum and materials, helping them understand how physics applies to real-world challenges such as transport, construction and play.
In Bodies, the emphasis is on human biology and wellbeing. Interactive displays examine how the body works, from the structure of bones and muscles to the ways our senses and emotions respond to the world around us.
Homes looks at how science shapes daily life. Visitors can investigate how household systems – such as plumbing, insulation and electricity – work, and explore sustainability themes such as renewable energy and reducing waste.
The Nature zone explores the living world and the interconnected systems that support it. Exhibits highlight local wildlife and ecosystems, as well as broader environmental topics such as climate change, biodiversity and conservation.
The Burrow is designed especially for children under seven. It offers a safe, sensory space inspired by underground habitats, with soft play features and interactive installations that encourage younger children to explore through touch and movement.
Finally, Make Create brings art and engineering together. This flexible workshop space invites visitors to design, build and experiment using simple tools and materials. Activities often focus on invention, creativity and problem-solving, encouraging children to think like designers or engineers.
Throughout all zones, the emphasis is on participation and discovery. Staff are on hand to explain concepts, guide activities and help visitors make connections between scientific ideas and their own lives.
