The George Hotel small centrally-located hotel in a historic building that is a convenient place to stay in Battle. It is a 17th-century coaching inn that features the original 17th-century spiral staircase and still has stables at the rear of the building.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel does not have a lift so it is not suitable for guests with disabilities.
Considering that the restaurant downstairs is a separate business, there are no other facilities at the hotel outside your own bedroom and even the reception area is minimal at best.
It feels tired and poorly maintained and there is little consistency in decor from one room to another. Based on the style of the furnishings, carpet and wallpaper it appears to have been decorated sometime in the 1960s. However, it is kept clean enough and one can’t complain about the location.
The hotel is located above an Italian restaurant on High Street in Battle’s town centre is handy to everything the town has to offer. It is only a two-minute walk to Battle Museum and a three-minute walk to Battle Abbey and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
Off-street parking is available which is a bonus as parking space in Battle is limited.
