The Hampton by Hilton London Park Royal hotel is a good value accommodation option currently under construction just a short walk from Park Royal tube station.
It was originally opened in 1936 as the Park Royal Hotel, which has mostly been more of a large pub than a hotel and it was most recently known as the Magnat, which closed in 2012 after the police were called out 28 times in one year to deal with violent incidents. The building has recently undergone a major renovation project, reopening as the Hampton by Hilton London Park Royal in late 2020.
The renovation has maintained the building’s Art Deco styling but it is most definitely a nicer spot than its predecessor.
The 162 air-conditioned hotel rooms all have comfortable beds, a seating area, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. Some wheelchair-accessible rooms are also available.
A complimentary hot breakfast is available, which is served in the hotel’s spacious ground floor lobby area.
There is also an on-site fitness centre and a business centre at the hotel.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Although it’s not the most attractive location, there are several places to eat and drink within walking distance including several restaurants and a multiplex cinema complex in a retail park around a five-minute walk from the hotel.
The best aspect of the hotel’s location is its proximity to Park Royal tube station (on the Piccadilly line in zone three), which is only a two-minute walk away. From here, it is a half-hour tube ride to Piccadilly Circus and 22 minutes to the museums at South Kensington with trains running every 10 minutes.
Car parking is available for £15 per day.
