The Holiday Inn Express London – Hammersmith hotel is a good accommodation option in Hammersmith in West London. Despite being located outside Central London, it is a convenient location with easy access to most points of interest in London.
It is a modern hotel despite being housed in an older building. The hotel has 192 guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.
An Express Start buffet breakfast (included in your room rate) is served in the Great Room bar on the ground floor. There is also an area with vending machines for those times when you need to grab a drink or a snack in the middle of the night.
There is free wired internet access in all rooms, but Wi-Fi wireless internet access is only free for IHG Rewards members. It is free to join the IHG loyalty programme and free Wi-Fi is available to all members of the programme, even those on the entry-level tier.
The hotel is located on a major shopping street in Hammersmith above a Wetherspoons pub (the Plough & Harrow) and there are plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
If you fancy a walk, it is less than a 10-minute walk to a delightful footpath that runs alongside the River Thames passing several charming pubs including The Rutland Arms, The Blue Anchor and The Dove.
It is located midway between Ravenscourt Park and Hammersmith tube stations, which are both a seven-minute walk from the hotel. Hammersmith is the most convenient of the two stations as it is served by the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Piccadilly lines. In contrast, Ravenscourt Park is only served by District line trains.
Hammersmith tube station is in zone two and there are trains every few minutes into central London. From here it is 16 minutes by tube to Piccadilly Circus and only eight minutes to the South Kensington museums.
The Piccadilly line also goes to Heathrow Airport making this hotel a good option if you’re flying in or out of Heathrow. It takes just over half an hour to get out to Heathrow by tube and the late-night bus route N9 can take you to the airport in around 45 minutes.
Note that Hammersmith station is split into two parts: one part is served by the Circle and the Hammersmith and City lines and the other has the District and Piccadilly lines. Both parts of the station are only a one-minute walk apart but you have to exit one part and then cross the road before entering the other part of the station.
Limited car parking is available for £20 per night.
