The Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T4 is a 457-room hotel within walking distance to Terminal 4 that was only opened in late 2018. Because everything here is nice and new, it offers a high standard of accommodation for the price.
The rooms are a decent size and they are all air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a small work desk, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom.
Six of the rooms are set up for guests who need wheelchair access.
The hotel is in a large eight-storey building shared with the (more expensive) Crowne Plaza hotel and it is within walking distance to Heathrow Terminal 4. The adjoining Crowne Plaza hotel costs around £35 more per night than the Holiday Inn Express but guests at the Holiday Inn Express have access to the nicer bar and restaurant at the Crowne Plaza. Because both hotels share the same building, guests of either hotel can use the facilities in the adjoining hotel with one exception, if you’re staying at the Holiday Inn Express you are not able to use the Crowne Plaza gym.
In addition to the bar, cafe and restaurant at the Crowne Plaza, the Holiday Inn Express also has its own restaurant, which offers a more casual dining experience. This is the space where you can eat the breakfast that is included in your room rate (which would cost an extra £15 if you were staying at the Crowne Plaza).
Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel but it is only free if you are an IHG One Rewards member. As it is free to join IHG One Rewards, it is worth signing up for the free Wi-Fi even if you’re not planning on collecting points.
Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s budget brand but even though it is a cheaper option than the Crowne Plaza in the same building it would be a stretch to call this a budget hotel when the Premier Inn just down the road is often around £30 cheaper for a similar standard room.
Most Heathrow Airport hotels are located far enough away from the airport that you need to catch a bus but this hotel (and a handful of others near Terminal 4) is an easy walk to the airport terminal. Access to the terminal is via an elevated covered walkway (which also goes to the Hilton and Premier Inn hotels) and it is less than a five-minute walk to Terminal 4.
The location is perfect if you’re flying in or out of Terminal 4 and the close proximity to the terminal combined with free train and tube connections with Terminals 2, 3 and 5 mean that it is worth considering this hotel even if you’re flying from a different terminal. With direct trains linking Terminal 4 with Paddington railway station in Central London (with a 35-minute journey time), it is even worth considering this hotel as an alternative to pricey hotels in the city centre.
An on-site car park is available but it will cost you £20 per day.
