The ibis budget hotel on Pollard Street is one of the cheapest places to stay in Manchester. Although the hotel lacks the charm of some other hotels in Manchester, it is one of the nicest options in this price range.
Each of the hotel’s 150 guest bedrooms comes with either a double bed or two single beds, a flat-screen television, a small desk and an en suite bathroom with a shower. All rooms include free Wi-Fi wireless internet access. Rooms are a compact 12m² (129 sq ft).
Other facilities at this hotel are fairly basic and consist mainly of a coffee machine and vending machines near the reception area plus a counter where a buffet breakfast is served in the morning. Breakfast is not included in the basic room rate.
Ibis budget is the cheapest and most basic of the three tiers of the ibis brand and many ibis budget hotels were previously branded as Hotel Formule 1. Hotels in the ibis budget chain follow a certain cookie-cutter approach with identical rooms within the hotel and from one hotel to another. It’s a budget hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin. There’s nothing fancy about ibis budget, but it delivers on its budget promise with rooms that are simple, clean and cheap.
The hotel is located on a busy road east of the city centre. The Ashton Canal is nearby as well as a retail park and Etihad Stadium is a 20-minute walk away. Most points of interest in the city centre are at least a 20-minute walk. It is a five-minute walk to the New Islington Metrolink tram stop and around a 15-minute walk to Manchester Piccadilly railway station.
If you’re looking for something similar, but with a more central location then take a look at the Premier Inn on Portland Street or the easyHotel in the Northern Quarter.
