Most rooms are 12m² (129 sq ft), although there are a few larger rooms that are usually used for upgrades for gold (and higher) members of Accor’s ALL loyalty programme.

This is one of England’s newer ibis budget hotels and it was built with ibis budget’s new ‘nest’ design, which is a big step up from the classic ibis budget room that you may be used to.

Although it’s still fairly basic, the rooms at this hotel have a stronger focus on design than the average ibis budget hotel room. One of the biggest differences are the bathrooms, which have a much nicer look and feel, more in line with what you would expect from a more expensive hotel. In short, an ibis budget hotel with the new ‘nest’ room design simply doesn’t have that cheap feel that you would normally associate with an older ibis budget hotel.

The main drawback over a classic ibis budget room is that it doesn’t have a proper work desk. Although you can work at the small table, it’s not as stable as a proper desk.

This hotel’s public areas are also a step up from an older ibis budget that you may be used to. While the reception area and cafe/bar in other ibis budget hotels can look really cheap, with about as much atmosphere as a hospital cafeteria, this hotel’s Chill #10 bar has a lot more atmosphere than you would expect to find at a budget hotel. It actually feels warm and welcoming and it’s a place that most people would be happy to spend a few hours.

Ibis budget is the cheapest and most basic of the three tiers of the ibis brand and some ibis budget hotels were previously branded as Hotel Formule 1 or Etap hotels. Hotels in the ibis budget chain follow a certain cookie-cutter approach with identical rooms within the hotel and from one hotel to another, although this hotel is starting to challenge this idea. It’s a budget hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin. There’s nothing fancy about ibis budget, but it delivers on its budget promise with rooms that are simple, clean and cheap.

The immediate neighbourhood is made up of modern commercial and residential buildings and there is a large Waitrose supermarket across a busy road.

Heading north into the city centre, takes you along The Moor, a pedestrian mall lined with shops. The Moor is a bustling shopping area but it isn’t the most attractive part of town; however, the area starts looking a lot nicer once you get north of here.

It’s only a five-minute walk to The Moor, and a 14-minute walk to the Peace Gardens and Millennium Square where you can find the Winter Garden. Other points of interest within an easy walk from the hotel include Graves Gallery and Millennium Gallery, which are both 15 minutes walk away, and Sheffield Cathedral and the National Videogame Museum are both around a 20-minute walk from the hotel.
