ibis London Barking

The ibis London Barking is a good value alternative to more centrally-located hotels and it only takes half an hour to get into The City from here. The 86-room hotel is clean and well-maintained and it is located around a 12-minute walk from Barking railway station in East London.

All rooms have comfortable beds, a flat-screen television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom.

Fogg’s is the hotel’s in-house restaurant and bar, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although the food is not brilliant, it does the job and it is a good option if you don’t feel like walking into the centre of Barking for something else.

Although the location facing the busy North Circular Road isn’t very appealing, the hotel backs onto the River Roding and the walk to Barking station takes you past modern blocks of flats and a nice park before you get to Barking’s busy suburban centre, which has plenty of shops and places to eat and drink.

Although not as close to the station as the Barking Travelodge, it is the best located of the cluster of hotels on the North Circular Road and it is around a 12-minute walk to Barking station, which has around 30 trains per hour into Central London comprised of eight trains an hour to Fenchurch Street station and over 20 underground trains (District and Hammersmith and City lines). Trains from Barking take 18 minutes to get to Fenchurch Street station in The City and it takes 35 minutes to catch the tube to Westminster or Kings Cross St Pancras.

The hotel has on-site car parking for 60 cars, which costs £5 per day. If you’re parking here you need to register your car at the hotel reception when you check in.
