Oxford’s Jurys Inn hotel is near a busy road in Wolvercote in Oxford’s northern suburbs. It is a popular four-star hotel with free parking and a high standard of accommodation that is popular with motorists but it is a long way from central Oxford and not so practical if you don’t have a car.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel has a bar and restaurant although these areas have very little atmosphere. The bar is supposed to have a decor that is inspired by the Mini but while the Mini exudes character, the bar does not and it simply feels bland and sterile. You may forgive this if the drinks were cheap, but they’re not.
The closest pub (The Plough) is a five-minute walk away and is a cheaper (and much better) alternative to the hotel bar. The White Hart and Jacob’s Inn are two other pubs within walking distance although these two are a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse restaurant does great food and has a menu with steaks and burgers plus British and French classics. The restaurant has more atmosphere than the hotel bar, but it is not as good as Marco Pierre White’s city centre restaurants in other cities.
Room service is available between noon and 10pm.
The hotel has a fitness centre with an indoor swimming pool and a squash court
The hotel is located near the Wolvercote Roundabout around 4.5km (2¾ miles) north of Oxford city centre. There is not much in the immediate area apart from the hotel restaurant and a BP petrol station although there are a few pubs within a 10-minute walk. Local buses (Oxford Bus Company route 6) run into the city centre every 12 minutes.
There is a large on-site car park with 250 spaces; however, parking costs £6 per day.
