The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool, formerly Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience and before that Hartlepool Historic Quay, has been restored to recreate the 18th-century seaport. It features Britain’s oldest floating warship, HMS Trincomalee as well as the restored paddle steamer, PSS Wingfield Castle. The Museum of Hartlepool is also on the site and it has displays on local history from prehistoric times to the present day.
