The Richard III Experience at Monk Bar is a museum that focuses on the life and legacy of King Richard III, the last Plantagenet King of England who maintained close ties with York during his short two-year reign (1483–1485). The museum’s exhibits depict life in York during the 15th century with displays about key battles of the War of the Roses.
The museum is located at Monk Bar, one of the four fortified gateways in York’s city walls dating from the 14th century with the top level added during the reign of King Richard III.
