The Lookout (formerly the Rye Lodge Hotel) is a small, but somewhat grand, hotel near Rye’s town centre.
The hotel has 20 guest bedrooms that range from cosy double rooms and move up to the penthouse suite. All rooms have comfortable beds, flat-screen televisions, a small work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.
The decor in most areas of the hotel tends to emphasise the historical aspects of the building and some guests find that this makes it look a little dated. This interior decor includes chandeliers and antique-style furnishings as well as period features such as moulded cornices and the look and feel of the rooms is appropriate for the area and it fits in nicely with the historic nature of the building.
The historically-inspired decor is most noticeable in the common areas of the hotel and also in the grand deluxe rooms but it is less prominent in the standard rooms and the penthouse suite, which has a much more modern feel.
The penthouse suite is also much larger than the other rooms. This suite is essentially a three-bedroom flat with its own kitchen (with laundry facilities) and a private balcony.
The hotel has its own heated indoor swimming pool and sauna and all guests have access to these facilities. There are also spa treatment rooms available at the hotel.
The Lookout also features its own bar in the lounge area near the reception and there is also a nice outdoor terrace. This spot is also a lovely spot to enjoy afternoon tea, which is served daily.
The hotel is located on East Cliff at the northeastern edge of the town centre. From here, most points of interest in Rye are not much more than a five-minute walk away. There is plenty of parking out the back, which is a real bonus for a town centre hotel.Check prices and availability for The Lookout
