The Seraphine Hammersmith Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western (formerly the Best Western Plus Seraphine Hammersmith Hotel) is a modern chain hotel that is nicer than the average Best Western hotel.
The hotel is in a beautiful Art Deco building that is let down somewhat by the tacky Cashino Gaming shop on the ground floor but inside it is quite nice. It is certainly a step up from the average Best Western Hotel although it does look somewhat dated when compared with many other chain hotels.
It has 62 air-conditioned guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a writing desk, a flatscreen television, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. However, some of the rooms are very small and there are no windows in some of the hotel’s cheaper rooms.
There is a nice bar area where a continental breakfast is served in the morning. There is no restaurant at the hotel but the location in the centre of Hammersmith means that there are plenty of places to eat and drink on your doorstep.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Hammersmith is a major commercial centre with easy access to Central London. It is quite a good neighbourhood to stay in as it is close enough to the centre of London to not feel suburban but far enough out to still be relatively affordable. The area is quite built up with office blocks, a couple of theatres (including the Lyric and Apollo) and plenty of shopping options. There is also a big Westfield shopping centre around a 20-minute walk north of here in Shepherds Bush. The hotel is around a five-minute walk to Hammersmith tube station, which is served by the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Piccadilly lines. The station is in zone two and there are trains every few minutes into central London. From here it is 16 minutes by tube to Piccadilly Circus and only eight minutes to South Kensington. It is also possible to walk to Kensington in just half an hour, although it is around a one-hour walk to the South Kensington museums.
The Piccadilly line also goes to Heathrow Airport making this hotel a good option if you’re flying in or out of Heathrow. It takes just over half an hour to get out to Heathrow by tube and the late-night bus route N9 can take you to the airport in around 45 minutes.
Note that Hammersmith station is split into two parts: one part is served by the Circle and the Hammersmith and City lines and the other has the District and Piccadilly lines. Both parts of the station are only a one-minute walk apart but you have to exit one part and then cross the road before entering the other part of the station.
