Sloane Place is a small hotel located adjacent to the Sloane Club in Chelsea around midway between Sloane Square and the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
The hotel is part of a Victorian-era red-brick building that is shared with the Sloane Club, a private members’ club that also has 106 guest rooms for the use of its members (and members of reciprocal clubs). Sloane Place opened in 2019 using 27 of the rooms that were formerly part of the Sloane Club and it gives regular people the opportunity to experience the type of accommodation enjoyed by members of exclusive clubs like the one next door.
The rooms all have comfortable Hypnos beds, a work desk, a smart TV, tea and coffee making facilities including Nespresso coffee machines and en suite bathrooms. Starting at just 14m² (150 sq ft) the cosy rooms are fairly compact, although the classic rooms are a more reasonable 18m² (194 sq ft) and there is also a 38m² (409 sq ft) suite.
The hotel does not have much in the way of public areas outside the rooms. The reception area is very small without the large lobby space that you would find in a larger hotel, however, there is a cafe/restaurant on site.
The Sloane Place Restaurant is a lovely spot to eat and drink with a modern British menu overseen by Bernhard Mayer, formerly the executive chef of the Savoy and Four Seasons hotels. Although it is not a cheap place to eat, it is reasonably priced considering the setting.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is in Chelsea around midway between Sloane Square and the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Chelsea is one of London’s loveliest residential neighbourhoods and it is only a two-minute walk from the hotel to Sloane Square and Chelsea’s main shopping area.
Other points of interest within walking distance include the National Army Museum and the Chelsea Physic Garden, which are both less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Within 20 minutes you can walk to Harrods, London Victoria railway station and the South Kensington museums.
Sloane Square tube station is a four-minute walk from the hotel. Sloane Square is in zone one and lies between South Kensington and Victoria on the Circle and District lines. From here it is only a five-minute ride to Westminster and 16 minutes to Monument with trains running every two minutes.
