The Staycity Aparthotels Waterfront, sometimes called the Staycity Aparthotels Corn Exchange, is a large apartment hotel in the Corn Exchange building near James Street station in central Liverpool.
With 212 serviced apartments, the Staycity Waterfront is much larger than the Staycity Aparthotel in the Ropewalks neighbourhood. The complex has smaller apartments than Liverpool’s other Staycity and it includes several studio apartments that are closer to a standard hotel room. However, even the studio apartments here are relatively spacious and include in-room facilities that you normally wouldn’t find in a hotel room.
The studio apartments, which are around 21m² (226sq ft), come with a comfortable king-size bed (some also have sofa beds), a small kitchenette with a microwave, a fridge, a hob and tea and coffee making facilities, a flat-screen television, a small dining table that can also be used as a desk and an en suite bathroom. Wheelchair accessible studio apartments are a little larger to allow for a more spacious bathroom.
The one- and two-bedroom apartments are larger and have separate sleeping and living areas that include a kitchen and a dining area. The kitchens in the one-and two-bedroom apartments are more spacious and better equipped than the studio apartments. They are fully-equipped with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave and electric cooking hobs and they also have a proper oven so you can make a pizza or bake a cake.
There are also laundry facilities in the building as well as ironing facilities in your room, which is reason enough to stay somewhere like this around once every week or two. Doing your own laundry here is considerably cheaper than having this done at a hotel and much nicer than waiting around in a laundromat.
Because the living areas in most of the apartments have sofa beds, each apartment can sleep extra people with some (but not all) of the studio apartments sleeping up to three people, one-bedroom apartments sleeping up to four people and two-bedroom apartments sleeping up to six people. This makes it a great option for families and groups of friends travelling together.
This Staycity Aparthotel has smaller rooms than the Staycity Duke Street but the decor and furnishings at this one are more modern and there is more consistency between rooms here.
The apartments have a modern contemporary decor with light woodgrain floors and kitchen fittings, black feature walls and bright yellow light fittings.
This apartment hotel also has more extensive common areas than the other one. In addition to the 24-hour reception, there are common areas that include a nice lounge and breakfast area with an in-house cafe/bar.
All apartments and common areas in the Staycity complex have free Wi-Fi wireless internet access.
It is located inside the Corn Exchange building near James Street station in Liverpool’s city centre. The surrounding streets are made up of office buildings, hotels and there are also plenty of places to eat and drink within a short walk of the hotel.
As you would expect from the hotel’s name, it is very close to the Liverpool waterfront, which is only a five-minute walk away. The waterfront is essentially the Pier Head area that includes the Three Graces, the Pier Head ferry terminal and the Museum of Liverpool. A five-minute walk in the other direction takes you to Mathew Street (where you can find the Cavern Club and the Magical Beatles Museum) and it is less than a 10-minute walk to Albert Dock (where you can visit the Beatles Story, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate Liverpool and the Wheel of Liverpool).
