Timbrell’s Yard is a small boutique hotel in an 18th-century building with a lovely outdoor terrace.
In the 18th century, the site was a factory used for dying wool, then it was a family home and later it was home to a number of local clubs including the Tariff Reform Club, the Conservative Club and the Avon Rowing Club. For around 30 years up until 2013, it was a run-down pub. In 2015, a £1.5 million restoration project transformed it into the boutique hotel/restaurant complex that you see today.
The hotel has 17 individually-designed rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, a DAB digital radio, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms with big powerful showers. Many of the rooms have views of the River Avon.
The decor has a Scandinavian influence with a colour palette of grey and light wood tones which nicely blend with the honey hues of the heritage building.
The complex also includes a restaurant, headed by Tom Blake (formerly head chef at River Cottage). The food here is excellent, portions are generous and the atmosphere is first rate. There is also an on-site bar/pub that offers a more casual environment for a drink or two.
Dogs are welcome at both the hotel and the adjoining bar and restaurant. There is a charge of £10 per dog but this includes a ‘woof box’ with dog food, dog treats and a tennis ball.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Timbrell’s Yard is one of the best-located hotels in Bradford on Avon. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the railway station and the Bradford on Avon Museum and it is just a short walk across the Town Bridge to all the shops, pubs and restaurants in the town centre. The 14th-century tithe barn is a seven-minute walk alongside the River Avon.
Free parking is available and there is a paid public car park nearby in case the hotel car park is full.

A great find
We stayed for 2 nights. Such a lovely place to stay. Our mezzanine room was tastefully decorated. The view from our window was beautiful. You can see Holy Trinity church (who incidentally have bell ringing practise for 2 hrs on a Monday evening, across the Avon from our room. Food is locally sourced and breakfast , lunch and dinner was very good. We were close to local sights and wandered around talking in local architecture. All staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. Great team. A train from Bradford on Avon can get you to Bath in just 17 mins. We will definitely stay here again.
