The Travelodge London Stratford hotel is a good value place to stay in Stratford in east London with excellent transport connections that will have you in The City is just 10 minutes.
Travelodge London Stratford has recently been updated to feature Travelodge’s new interior design, which makes this hotel a step above the average Travelodge.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Stratford are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are much bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant, although there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.
This Travelodge is on Stratford High Street, which is lined with offices, hotels and blocks of flats with plenty of shops and places to eat and drink nearby. The centre of Stratford is around a five-minute walk from the hotel and it is around 12 minutes to the big Westfield Stratford shopping centre. It is only a five-minute walk to the edge of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (where the 2012 Olympic Games were held) and the ArcelorMittal Orbit is a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
From the hotel, it is an eight-minute walk to Stratford station (in zones two and three), which is a busy transport interchange with frequent trains into central London. Stratford station has DLR trains to Greenwich and the Docklands, two tube lines (the Central and Jubilee lines) and suburban trains that run express to London Liverpool Street station. All up, there are around 60 trains per hour into central London with the journey to Liverpool Street in The City taking only 10 minutes. With the equivalent of a train into central London every minute, it is hard to find anywhere in London’s suburbs with better transport connections than Stratford.
From Stratford, there are also direct coach connections to Stansted Airport and direct trains to Southend Airport.
Although this hotel does not have its own parking, parking is available at the nearby Westfield shopping centre. On weekdays parking costs £6 for up to 24 hours and on weekends 24 hours of parking will cost you £9; however, parking is charged at higher rates if you stay longer than 24 hours so you will need to leave and re-enter the car park every day to avoid higher parking charges.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
