Travelodge London Teddington

Rated 2 out of 5

The Travelodge London Teddington hotel is in Teddington, not far from Twickenham in London’s southwestern suburbs. It is a nice area and the hotel is close to Teddington station, but it is a 40-minute train ride to get into central London.

The Travelodge London Teddington hotel has recently been updated to feature Travelodge’s new interior design, which makes this hotel a nicer place to stay than the average Travelodge.

Rooms at the Travelodge London Teddington are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

The hotel also has its own cafe/bar, and while this is nicer than what you would find in a lot of older Travelodge hotels, it doesn’t have the atmosphere of places to eat and drink nearby.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.

Teddington is a pleasant spot and the immediate neighbourhood has a good mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The hotel is only a three-minute walk from Teddington railway station (in zone six), which has six trains per hour to London Waterloo. The journey to Waterloo station takes around 40 minutes, which is quite a long commute considering that there are hotels farther from central London that have a much quicker train ride into town.

There are also several local buses that stop around the corner including the 285, which runs every half hour to Heathrow Airport. Although not particularly close to the airport, it is a direct bus route that takes a little over half an hour and only costs £1.50.

This hotel has limited free parking.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.

    Can do better

Not going to be a regular resource for me. Nickel and dime charges (5 and 10 pence?). Check-in early? 10 pounds. Check-out late? 10 pounds. Internet (such as it was)? 3 pounds per night. Restaurant? Only pizza in the afternoon. Cost? could have (should have) stayed at a much nicer Hilton at the airport and commuted the 15 minutes by bus to Teddington - all for the same cost.
