Widbrook Grange

The hotel has 19 guest rooms, which all have comfortable king-size beds, a work desk, a flat-screen telly, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. All but the smallest rooms also have ironing facilities and there are roll-top bathtubs inside some of the rooms. One of the rooms is wheelchair accessible.

It is a boutique hotel with each room individually decorated in what could be described as ‘country chic’. The decor highlights the building’s original features such as the exposed beams and stone walls and the public areas are decorated with whimsical knick-knacks and farm paraphernalia, which adds extra character to the place. All up, Widbook Grange has the right mix of quirky and cosy.

There is also a restaurant and bar on site. The restaurant’s country-style menu has been created by chef Sandor Szucs with a focus on locally-sourced ingredients. Your room rate includes a full English breakfast cooked to order plus pastries, cereal and coffee.

One of the hotel’s highlights is its gin bar, which has a choice of over 165 different gins (and 14 different tonics). They also host bi-monthly gin tasting experiences.

It is a dog-friendly hotel. Although there is a £15 surcharge if you bring your pooch, this gives you a welcome box with dog treats, dog food and a tennis ball. Your dog is welcome in most areas of the hotel except the restaurant, however, you can enjoy a meal with your dog in the conservatory.

Your dog can also join you for afternoon tea and a doggy afternoon tea menu is available for £10.50 which includes a tennis ball, dog food, dog biscuits and a puppichino. The hotel even caters for doggy birthday parties.

The Widbrook Grange complex also includes a conference centre and fitness centre with a heated indoor swimming pool. For an additional charge, beauty treatments are available in your room.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the complex.

The hotel is located around midway between Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge. Despite being located in the countryside, it is only 2km (1¼ miles) southeast of Bradford on Avon’s town centre and it is possible to walk into the centre of town in just 25 minutes. In the other direction, you can walk to Trowbridge in half an hour.

Bradford on Avon Marina (and a local pub) is just a couple of minutes walk up the road and you can take a pleasant stroll along the towpath alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal to the Bradford on Avon Tithe Barn in around 25 minutes.

Free parking is available, which makes Widbrook Grange a great accommodation option if you’re driving.
