Newquay

England’s surfing Mecca is hugely popular with backpackers and surfers and it has developed a good infrastructure to cater to surfers with a large selection of cheap hotels, hostels, backpacker pubs and surf schools.

Unfortunately, Newquay is also a tacky ugly town that is very unlike the rest of Cornwall and it is best avoided if you’re not a surfer.

Coming and going

Newquay has relatively good transport connections with an airport, railway station and buses to other parts of Cornwall.

First Kernow buses connect Newquay with other towns in Cornwall. Useful bus routes include bus route A4 to St Ives (this bus only runs during summer); bus A5 to Padstow and buses 85, 87, 90, 92 and 93  to Truro.
