Paignton is a seaside resort in the Torbay area, around midway between Torquay and Brixham.
The main attractions are the Paignton Zoo and the Dartmouth Steam Railway, although the town’s attractions also include Oldway Mansion and the surrounding gardens, which were built by sewing machine magnate Isaac Merritt Singer.
The town forms part of the larger Torbay metropolitan area that also includes the towns of Brixham and Torquay and it sometimes promoted as the English Riviera.
Paignton railway station is the terminus of the Riveria Line that runs to Exeter and Stagecoach buses go to destinations throughout the Torbay area and to nearby towns and cities including Exeter, Newton Abbot, Plymouth and Totnes.
