The Garden of England consists partly of London’s southern suburbs but also includes historic cities like Canterbury, the channel ports of Dover and Folkstone as well as the decaying beach ‘resorts’ of Broadstairs and Margate.
Most visitors just glimpse Kent from the window of a speeding Eurostar train or a coach en route between London and the south coast but it is well worth visiting Kent’s historic attractions such as Canterbury or Leeds Castle near Maidstone.
