The Arthouse Hotel is a fun hotel in the Ropewalks neighbourhood that is aimed at the hen and stag party crowd. It has large rooms themed on arthouse and classic films.
The 30-room hotel has a Hollywood theme with hotel rooms and suites themed on classic arthouse films. Like other hotels run by Signature Living, the rooms here are large with some sleeping up to 14 guests. It is very much a party hotel that is popular with the hen and stag-night crowd.
The decor varies from one room to another although the general theme is large dormitory-style rooms with a row of big comfortable beds with a massive reproduction of a film poster on the ceiling with the room’s (often bold) colour scheme matching the poster. Some of the furnishings can seem a little tacky with gaudy gilt-framed mirrors, a padded wall-sized bedhead and velour-upholstered furniture. It’s what rappers and the nouveau riche would call luxury.
Film-themed rooms include Easy Virtue, Grease, the Sound of Music, Vertigo and the Wizard of Oz.

Some of those rooms not themed on a specific film are themed on a particular film star such as the Marilyn Monroe room with its reproduction of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Diptych painting on the ceiling.

There are also a couple of Beatles-themed rooms including the Yellow Submarine room and the John Lennon room, which features album art created by Andy Warhol for Lennon’s posthumously released album Menlove Avenue.
The penthouse Skyline Suites are the hotel’s largest with Skyline 403 sleeping 10 and the interconnected Skyline 401 and 402 sleeping 14. These suites feature massive spa baths and a private terrace looking over the city.
Rooms are air-conditioned and come with a desk, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms, many of them featuring spa baths. Three of the rooms are wheelchair-accessible.
Although hotels with large rooms are often great for families, this is not the case with the Arthouse. It is very much a hotel for loud booze-fuelled parties and not really the best place for families with young children.
Mulholland Singing Diner is the hotel’s in-house bar and restaurant, which has a focus on beer, hot dogs and pizza. It is a brash and over-the-top American-themed place with waiters singing movie soundtracks and power ballads from the 1980s. You’ll either love it or hate it.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet is available throughout the hotel.
The Arthouse Hotel is in the Ropewalks neighbourhood, which is full of quirky places to eat and drink. It is around a 5–10-minute walk into the heart of Liverpool city centre. Mathew Street is a 12-minute walk away, Albert Dock is a 15-minute walk and it takes around 20 minutes to walk to Pier Head and the Liverpool waterfront.
The closest railway station is Liverpool Central, which is only a six-minute walk from the hotel. It is a 10-minute walk to both Liverpool Lime Street railway station and Liverpool One bus station.
If you’ve come to Liverpool to party (and thousands of people do exactly that) then this a fun place to stay but it is probably not for you if you prefer somewhere a little more understated.
