Crowne Plaza London Docklands is a modern hotel in London’s Docklands that is a popular accommodation option for business travellers attending events at the ExCeL exhibition centre.
The hotel’s 210 air-conditioned guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a flat-screen television, a work desk, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Superior rooms include extras such as ironing facilities, a bathrobe and a better view. Some of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.
Most rooms are a relatively spacious 24m² (269 sq ft) and the hotel’s suites are larger, between 33m² (355 sq ft) and 55m² (592 sq ft) and offer better amenities and separate living and sleeping areas.
Guests have complimentary access to the Quad Club, the hotel’s health club, which includes a gym, a 14m (46 ft) heated indoor swimming pool, a steam room, sauna and three spa treatment rooms.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel’s Docklands Bar & Grill has a casual dining menu that includes burgers and grilled meat dishes. The hotel restaurant is a contemporary space that lacks character but there is also an outdoor terrace, which is a lovely spot for a bite to eat and a drink on a sunny day.
Although the restaurant is not too bad, it is nothing special either. Fortunately, there are several other places to eat and drink nearby including several places right on the waterfront.
The hotel has a nice waterfront location around a five-minute walk to the ExCeL exhibition centre and it is also reasonably close to the Royal Docks terminus of the Emirates Air Line cable car, which is only a couple of minutes’ walk away. Its close proximity to the cable car means that this hotel is a good accommodation option if you’re attending an event at the O2 Arena (which is located at the other end of the cable car line).
It is part of the cluster of hotels at the western side of ExCeL, which also includes the Good Hotel, an ibis, a Novotel and the Sunborn London. Although there are a lot of other hotels in the area, the immediate neighbourhood has more local character than the area on the other side of ExCeL and there are also modern blocks of flats and local shops and restaurants nearby.
It is a four-minute walk to Royal Victoria DLR station, which is a 16-minute ride into The City with trains running every eight minutes.
