The ibis London Excel Docklands hotel is a modern hotel that can often represent a good value accommodation option. It has a nicer location than similar hotels near ExCeL with good transport connections into Central London.
It is in a modern dockside building that is shared with the adjacent Novotel hotel. Most of the hotel’s 278 guest rooms are 16m² (172 sq ft) and all rooms have comfortable Sweet Beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.
It is generally a more design-focused hotel than many other hotels in the same price range.
The in-house restaurant, Fogg’s, has an international menu and it is open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel has a nice waterfront location less than a five-minute walk to the ExCeL exhibition centre and it is also reasonably close to the Royal Docks terminus of the Emirates Air Line cable car, which is only a four-minute walk away.
It is part of the cluster of hotels at the western side of ExCeL, which also includes a Crowne Plaza, the Good Hotel, a Novotel and the Sunborn London. Although there are a lot of other hotels in the area, the immediate neighbourhood has more local character than the area on the other side of ExCeL and there are also modern blocks of flats and local shops and restaurants nearby.
It is around midway between Royal Victoria and Custom House DLR stations, although Royal Victoria is slightly closer to the hotel. From here it is a 16-minute ride into The City with trains running every eight minutes.
