Derby Bus Station has 24 local bus bays plus five coach bays that are used by National Express and some other long-distance coach operators.
It was rebuilt in 2010 and it replaces the original bus station, which was the United Kingdom’s first purpose-built bus station (and the world’s first bus station with railway-style platforms) when it opened in 1933. The Beatles are reported to have dined in the old bus station’s cafe.
National Express coaches go from Derby to Bakewell, Birmingham, Buxton, Leeds, Leicester, London and Nottingham. Trent Barton operates buses from Derby to Burton-on-Trent, Buxton, Manchester and Nottingham.
