Wakefield Westgate is the busier of Wakefield’s two mainline railway stations. Like the smaller Kirkgate station, Wakefield Westgate is served by local rail services within West Yorkshire; however, it also handles long-distance services with trains to Birmingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, London, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and York.
Wakefield Kirkgate is the least used of Wakefield’s two mainline railway stations. It primarily handles local trains to other destinations in West Yorkshire; however, it also serves trains to Lincoln, London and Sheffield.
Shipley is a busy station that is served mostly by local services to Bradford and Leeds, although it is also served by long-distance trains to Carlisle, Lancaster and London.
Hebden Bridge is on the Calder Valley line, which links Leeds with Manchester Victoria and Blackpool. This is the less direct, but more scenic, of the two railway lines linking Leeds and Manchester.
Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is in Yeadon, which is 11km (7 miles) northwest of Leeds and 14km (9 miles) northeast of Bradford. It is the principal airport in Yorkshire and the UK’s 15th-busiest airport.
Leamington Spa railway station is a major stop on the Chiltern Main Line and it has direct services to Birmingham, Coventry, London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
Nuneaton is served by three railway lines, which means that you can get a direct train from here to many other destinations throughout the Midlands as well as long-distance trains to destinations elsewhere in the UK.
Bristol Ferry Boats operates a ferry service connecting various points of interest around Bristol Harbour. The Bristol Harbour Ferry is a great way to see the city from a unique perspective and it is the best way to get to some of the city’s most popular maritime-themed attractions.
Warminster lies on the railway line linking Bath with Salisbury and hourly train services connect Warminster to these two cities and farther afield with direct services to Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton and Portsmouth.
Swindon is on the Great Western main line, which links London Paddington with Bristol and it excellent transport connections to London, Gloucester, Wales and the West Country.
Megabus coach services connect Swindon with Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Hereford and London and there are also direct services to Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Chippenham lies on the Great Western Main Line connecting Bristol with London Paddington. It is also served by a smaller line, the Chippenham branch of the Wessex Main Line, which runs to Southampton via Salisbury.
National Express coaches stop at Millstream Coach Park north of Salisbury city centre. This is also the main parking spot for any tour buses visiting Salisbury.
Regular train services connect Eastbourne with other towns and cities along the south coast including direct services to Brighton, Hastings and Ashford International. All trains serving Eastbourne railway station are operated by Southern.
Hastings is a busy rail hub with direct trains to other towns and cities in East Sussex including Battle, Brighton, Eastbourne and Rye as well as direct services to Ashford International (where you can transfer for Eurostar trains to Belgium and France) and London.
Reading is on the Great Western Main Line that runs from London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads. It is a major transport hub and is one of the busiest stations outside London.
Saltaire is on the Airedale line linking Leeds and Bradford with Skipton and it is served by West Yorkshire’s Metro transport network with frequent trains to Bradford and Leeds.
Local and regional buses and Megabus and National Express coaches depart from Leeds City Bus Station between Dyer and York Streets at the eastern end of the city centre.
Bradford Interchange is a combined bus, coach and railway station in the centre of Bradford.
