Wakefield Kirkgate railway station

Wakefield Kirkgate is the least used of Wakefield’s two mainline railway stations. It primarily handles local trains to other destinations in West Yorkshire; however, it also serves trains to Lincoln, London and Sheffield.

From Wakefield Kirkgate station there are four trains per day to Bradford via Halifax, four trains per hour to Leeds, one train per hour to Lincoln, four trains per day to London Kings Cross, one train per hour to Nottingham and three trains per hour to Sheffield. Most rail services at Kirkgate are operated by Northern, although the Bradford–London service is run by Grand Central.

It is an unstaffed station without a ticket office; however, there are ticket machines and Grand Central operate a first-class lounge for passengers on the Bradford–London service.

The station is located southeast of the city centre not far from the Hepworth Wakefield.
