Shipley railway station

Shipley is a busy station that is served mostly by local services to Bradford and Leeds, although it is also served by long-distance trains to Carlisle, Lancaster and London.

Local services include the Leeds–Bradford line, the Airedale line linking Leeds and Bradford with Skipton and the Wharfdale line linking Bradford with Ilkley. Most local services are operated by Northern as part of West Yorkshire’s Metro transport network. From Shipley, there are four trains per hour to Bradford Forster Square, one train per hour to Ilkley, three trains per hour to Leeds and four trains per hour to Skipton.

Shipley is also served by long-distance trains to Carlise, Lancaster and London. This includes trains on the scenic Settle–Carlisle line, Northern Rail services to Lancaster (with some services continuing to Morecombe) and LNER services to London Kings Cross.

It is a fully staffed station with five platforms, a ticket office and a small coffee shop.

The station is around a 3–4-minute walk from the centre of Shipley and around a 10-minute walk from the ibis hotel.

The excellent West Yorkshire Day Saver ticket gives you one day of unlimited train travel in West Yorkshire for £8.10 and a day of unlimited bus and train travel for £9. This pass makes Shipley a good low-cost base for exploring West Yorkshire.
