Taunton railway station

Taunton railway station is a major station on the London–Penzance line and it is also served by the railway line connecting Taunton to Bristol and Cardiff and by CrossCountry trains to Birmingham and Leeds.

GWR trains stop in Taunton en route between London Paddington and Penzance with an hourly service that also includes stops at Exeter St Davids, Paignton and Plymouth. Taunton is also the southern terminus of a line to Cardiff, with an hourly service that also includes stops at Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads.

CrossCountry trains stop in Taunton en route between Plymouth and Birmingham New Street with most trains continuing north to either Edinburgh or Leeds. Like GWR, CrossCountry trains also operate an hourly service.

The station is a Grade II listed building and is one of the original stations to be designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Station facilities include toilets, a ticket office and ticket machines and there is also a branch of Starbucks on the northern platform. Step-free access is available to all platforms.

The station is around a 10-minute walk north of the town centre.
