DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands Riverside

The DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands Riverside has a nice located on the River Thames and many of the rooms offer views towards Canary Wharf; however, it is not a particularly convenient location and it can be difficult to reach by public transport.

It is a large hotel with 378 air-conditioned guest rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. The hotel’s suites are larger with separate living and sleeping areas.

The hotel is a 17th-century building in what was once a dry shipbuilding dock. Although it has contemporary decor, many of the rooms feature exposed brick walls and this adds a little more atmosphere than you would expect from a hotel catering to business travellers.

There are several restaurants and bars at the hotel. Columbia is the main bar and restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The Library and The Snug are more intimate drinking venues, although these are often booked for private functions.

Guests have access to the hotel’s fitness facilities.

Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel but it costs a whopping £12.95 per day.

The hotel is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood that has several nice local pubs and easy access to the Thames Path. Although it has a lovely riverside location close to Central London, this hotel is difficult to reach by public transport as the closest station is a 20-minute walk away. However, buses stop outside and there is also a ferry link to Canary Wharf.

There are three Overground stations (Rotherhithe, Canada Water and Surrey Quays) and one tube station (Canada Water) that are all around a 20-minute walk (or a 6–7-minute bus ride) from the hotel. Local bus route C10 stops outside the hotel and runs to Victoria Station connecting with six different tube lines and this is the most useful option for most guests.

Another option is the Canary Wharf–Rotherhithe ferry service, which connects the hotel with Canary Wharf. This is both a convenient and popular option that is free for hotel guests but non-guests have to pay £4.50 each way for the two-minute ride.

The hotel has a 100-space car park, although it costs £16 per day to park here.
