Eastbourne Pier

Eastbourne Pier is a pleasure pier near the town centre. It is a nice spot to visit as it is not as commercialised as similar piers in other English seaside resort towns.

The pier was badly damaged by fire in 2014 but it has since been restored with a brand new walkway.

The pier has featured in several films and televisions programmes, although in some instances it was as a stand-in for Brighton Pier. It has featured in the Poirot episodes Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan and Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case and the films Last Orders (2001), Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008) and Brighton Rock (2010).

There are several shops and food outlets on the pier including a fish and chip shop (The Chippy), Victorian Tea Rooms and the 1901 Jazz Lounge. The Victorian Tea Rooms is a popular spot for afternoon tea with a lovely sea view (their cream tea is particularly good value).
