The Garden at 120 is a free rooftop garden at the One Fen Court building, which offers spectacular views of the City of London.

What to see at the Garden at 120

While only 15 storeys high, its central location makes this a great spot to take in views of the City of London and its close proximity to City landmarks such as the Gherkin, the Lloyds Building and the Walkie Talkie make for some impressive close-up views where you can see detail on neighbouring buildings that you would miss if you were looking from higher up.

It offers 360º views, although the views are best looking south as views to the north are mostly obscured by taller buildings.

Unlike the nearby Sky Garden, the Garden at 120 is open to the elements giving it much more of a garden feel. Despite having no roof above you, you are protected by a glass fence, although this can lead to unwanted reflections if you’re trying to take photos on a sunny day.

It is London’s largest rooftop garden and it is a wonderful place to visit on a sunny day, although being open to the elements means that it’s not so nice if it is raining.

Visiting the Garden at 120

The Garden at 120 is right in the heart of The City and Fenchurch Street railway station, Leadenhall Market and the Sky Garden are all within a five-minute walk. The entrance is on Hogarth Court, just off Fenchurch Street.

Its central location means that it is easily accessible by public transport with Aldgate, Monument and Tower Hill tube stations all less than a 10-minute walk away.

It is open most days, although it is closed on bank holidays.

Unlike some free observation decks, you don’t need to pre-book tickets and instead you just turn up and join the queue. There can be a bit of a wait around lunchtime but it’s usually pretty quick to get in if you visit outside this time.

You’ll also need to pass through airport-style security when visiting the Garden at 120.

Unlike some other observation decks and rooftop gardens, it is OK to bring something to eat and drink while you’re up here (although alcohol is not allowed), making this the perfect place to enjoy your Sainsbury’s meal deal.

Allow 30–45 minutes for your visit.
