Hilton London Kensington

The Hilton London Kensington hotel offers a high standard of accommodation although there are more conveniently-located hotels for the price elsewhere in London.

This Hilton is a large hotel with 601 guest rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.

Executive rooms are larger with extra amenities including ironing facilities plus bathrobes and slippers and the hotel’s suites are larger still, with separate living and sleeping areas.

There are several dining options at the hotel including the West Eleven Restaurant and the Avenue Bar & Lounge.

Other facilities at the hotel include a fitness centre with a sauna and steam room plus business facilities and a gift shop.

Despite being called the Hilton London Kensington, it is not really what most Londoners would call Kensington and it is much closer to the centre of Shepherds Bush than it is to the shops and restaurants on High Street Kensington. Also, it is not quite as conveniently located as you would be if you were staying in Shepherds Bush as it involves walking through an underpass below the West Cross Route to get to Shepherds Bush tube station. Mind you, it is only a five-minute walk to Shepherds Bush station and once you’re there you have access to all the shops, restaurants and pubs of Shepherds Bush.

The shopping options in Shepherds Bush include the W12 shopping centre (which includes a multiplex cinema) as well as the Westfield London shopping centre (the largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom), both of which are around a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Shepherds Bush tube station is on the Central line and from here, it is only a 10-minute ride to Oxford Circus with trains running every two minutes.

The bus stop outside the hotel has regular services into Central London and most of these go through Notting Hill and along High Street Kensington. Many people staying at the hotel prefer to take the bus as you get to see some of London on the ride into town.

The hotel has its own car park but it is pricey at £35 per day on weekdays (cheaper on weekends). If you’re driving, you’re better off parking at the nearby Westfield London shopping centre.
