The Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront Hotel (formerly the Bedford Hotel) is a 17-storey tower block on the Brighton seafront near Regency Square and the British Airways i360 tower.
The Bedford Hotel was originally built in 1829 and Charles Dickens wrote Dombey and Son while staying here. The original five-storey Georgian-style building burnt down in 1964 and was replaced by an ugly 17-storey hotel that is now known as the Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront.
The hotel has 131 guest bedrooms that all include comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Executive rooms are larger and also feature a sea view plus bathrobes, a Nespresso coffee machine and minibar. Many of the sea view rooms have balconies.
There are some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
The hotel has recently undergone a £4 million refurbishment programme that has seen an improvement to all the bedrooms as well as the public areas downstairs. While the hotel has an ugly exterior, at least the recent renovation means that it looks nice inside.
There is a branch of Starbucks inside the hotel and the hotel’s Stockburger restaurant serves premium burgers with craft beer.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is located west of the city centre near Regency Square and the British Airways i360 observation tower, which are only a two-minute walk away. The heart of the city centre and The Lanes are just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and Brighton Pier, the SEA LIFE Centre, Brighton Dome, Brighton Museum and the Royal Pavilion are a 15-minute walk away.
Undercover parking is available underneath the hotel but it costs £20 per day.
