Hotel Campanile Manchester is a budget hotel in Salford that is part of the French Campanile chain.
The 103 small hotel rooms all feature a television and tea and coffee making facilities plus en suite bathrooms. Five of the rooms are wheelchair-accessible.
Although it looks quite nice from the outside, the amenities could be better maintained. Also, many guests complain about the smell of cigarette smoke even though it, like virtually all hotels in the UK, is a non-smoking hotel.
Unlike most hotels in Manchester, Wi-Fi access is not free and costs an additional £8 for 24 hours.
There is also an on-site restaurant, which doesn’t look that special, although reports from other guests say that the food is much better than you would expect. Perhaps that is a sign of the hotel’s French management that put a priority on quality food even in a budget hotel.
It is a cheap place to stay that is more or less identical to other hotels in the Campanile chain. It certainly isn’t anything special, but it does the job if you’re looking for a cheap place to stay in the Manchester area.
It is one of the closest hotels to the city centre with free parking, making it a good option if you’re driving.
The hotel is located near a retail park in Salford alongside a cluster of big box stores like Argos, Office Outlet, TK Maxx and a big Sainsbury’s supermarket. Most points of interest in the city centre are a good 20-minute walk away, although you can walk to the Museum of Science and Industry in a little over 10 minutes. Bus routes 33 and 63 stop on Regent Road outside the Sainsbury’s supermarket and run into central Manchester terminating at Piccadilly Gardens. Both bus routes run every 15 minutes.
