ibis London Docklands Canary Wharf

The ibis London Docklands Canary Wharf hotel is a good value accommodation option close to public transport but most other Canary Wharf hotels are much better located than this one.

The ibis hotel’s 87 rooms all have comfortable Sweet Beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities (including an Illy coffee machine) and en suite bathrooms. However, the 15m² (161 sq ft) rooms are relatively compact.

The in-house restaurant, Fogg’s, has an international menu and it is open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant but it feels sterile and it lacks the atmosphere of a proper pub. (Photo: ALL – Accor Live Limitless)

The hotel is in an area at the northeastern corner of the Docklands, which is home to a cluster of modern high-density residential developments. There are a few places to eat and drink nearby and you can walk to the riverfront in just a few minutes; however, the hotel’s immediate vicinity is not particularly interesting and you really need to walk 15 minutes or more get to a more vibrant neighbourhood.

Although it is only 75m² (245 ft) from Blackwall DLR station, the layout of the local road network means that it takes eight minutes to walk to the station, meaning that the next station along the line, East India station, is more easily accessible.

It takes six minutes to walk to East India DLR station, which has direct trains to London City Airport (an eight-minute journey with trains running every eight minutes) and Tower Gateway (a 12-minute journey with trains running every eight minutes). You can also walk into the centre of Canary Wharf in around 15 minutes or hop on the D3 bus, which stops right outside the hotel and connects with the DLR, the Overground and the Central and Jubilee lines.
