The 30 spacious guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a flatscreen television with a DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities, ironing facilities and en suite bathrooms. The hotel also has a few self-contained apartments that are ideal for families that are looking for a little more space.

A third of the rooms are in the main building and the rest are in a more modern annexe. One of the rooms, and all the hotel’s public areas, is wheelchair accessible.

The hotel has a restaurant with a casual dining menu with burgers, steak, fish and chips and grilled meats and while it’s not cheap, it is quite good value considering the quality. The hotel also has a bar with several local ciders on tap.

There are also spa facilities including a treatment room and an indoor hot tub. The hotel also has a fully-equipped fitness centre.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel is centred around a former rectory that dates back to the Edwardian era. Although the building’s hamstone exterior has the look of an Edwardian country house, the hotel’s interior has a much more contemporary decor.

While a contemporary-styled room simply feels cleaner and better appointed than a traditional-styled room, the old-world charm of a centuries-old building is all part of the reason that people usually choose to stay in a country house hotel and it would have been nice if they at least kept the traditional decor in the hotel’s public areas.

The hotel is in West Coker, a lovely village comprised of stone houses that is 5.5km (3½ miles) southwest of Yeovil. Although it is a charming location, there is not a lot to see and do in the immediate vicinity around the hotel.

Regular buses connect West Coker with Yeovil and this can make it a surprisingly convenient place to stay when compared with other hotels on the outskirts of Yeovil. However, the rural location means that it is best suited if you’re travelling by car, although this won’t be a big issue for most people staying here as most of the main attractions in this area are also most easily accessible by car.
