Leman Locke is a modern apartment hotel in a high-rise building close to where the East End and the City of London meet.
The complex is comprised of 171 self-contained apartments, which all have comfortable king-size beds, a dining table, a flatscreen television, a kitchenette with a hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher and an en suite bathroom. Larger apartments also include a sofa and washing machine/dryer.
The apartments feature modern interior decor with a mix of neutral and pastel colours and they have floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer lovely views of The City.
Apartments range from the compact 19m² (205 sq ft) micro studio to the spacious 78m² (840 sq ft) interconnecting one-bedroom suite. The average apartment is 35m² (376 sq ft).
Unlike many apartment hotels, Leman Locke has extensive shared social spaces, which include a fitness centre, meeting rooms, a terrace, a cafe (Shaman) and a restaurant (Treves & Hyde).
The immediate neighbourhood is characterised by highrise office and residential buildings. There is a good selection of places to eat and drink nearby and it is only a three-minute walk to Brick Lane, which is noted for its excellent choice of Bangladeshi restaurants.
Leman Locke is just east of the City of London (it’s only a three-minute walk to the Square Mile) and most points of interest in The City are no more than a half-hour walk away. This includes the Bank of England Museum, Guildhall Art Gallery, the City of London Police Museum, the Gherkin, the Monument, the Museum of London, Old Bailey, the Sky Garden, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
Aldgate East tube station is only a two-minute walk away and it is a five-minute walk to Aldgate. It is generally best to walk the extra few minutes to Aldgate station if you’re heading to Liverpool Street or Kings Cross, as trains from Aldgate are more frequent in this direction, although Aldgate East is fine if you’re heading to Monument or Westminster. Both stations are in zone one with Aldgate East served by the District and Hammersmith & City lines and Aldgate served by the Circle and Metropolitan lines. From Aldgate East, it takes four minutes to get to Monument and 15 minutes to Westminster with trains running every 3–4 minutes and from Aldgate, it takes just one minute to Liverpool Street or 11 minutes to King’s Cross & St Pancras International with trains running every 2–3 minutes.
